Russian losses in Ukraine reach 281,550 in 2025 – 'I Want to Live' project

The "I Want to Live" project published data on Monday showing that Russian forces have suffered 281,550 casualties — killed, wounded, and missing — in the war against Ukraine since the start of 2025.
According to the data, Russia's Center troop grouping incurred the highest toll, with 96,500 casualties, including 27,700 killed. Its units are engaged in fighting on the Pokrovsk and Lyman fronts.
Russia's North grouping ranked second, with 53,500 losses; it operates in Sumy Oblast and northern Kharkiv Oblast.
The Dniepr grouping suffered the fewest casualties, at 13,200.
Ukraine's General Staff reported that as of October 6, 2025, Russian forces have lost 1,116,340 troops overall since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022.
