Russian strikes damage Chernihiv Oblast rail, oil and power infrastructure overnight
Russian forces unleashed a barrage on Chernihiv Oblast overnight into Wednesday, damaging rail lines, an oil depot, and energy facilities, regional governor Vyacheslav Chaus reported.
Enemy attacks targeted railroad infrastructure, igniting fires, while morning strikes hit an energy site, triggering emergency power outages. Russian drones also struck an oil depot in Pryluky, sparking a blaze.
Nizhyn Mayor Oleksandr Koloda said that the aggressor fired 12 Shahed drones at a freight train on the Nosivka-Nizhyn stretch, wrecking tracks on the Nizhyn-Kyiv route. Services there are halted, with Kyiv-bound trains rerouted to Nosivka station.
Russians also hit a city power facility, causing outages in some Nizhyn districts. Ukrzaliznytsia warehouse infrastructure sustained damage.
The rail assault will force route changes for several trains, with some services temporarily canceled.
