Ukrainian air defenses down 86 of 113 Russian drones overnight
Russian forces launched 113 strike drones at Ukraine overnight into Wednesday, but air defenses downed 86 of them, with 26 hitting targets across 11 sites, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
The assault involved Shahed, Gerbera and other drone types, launched from Millerovo, Bryansk, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, with about 50 being Shaheds.
Ukraine’s anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, drone operators and mobile fire groups from the Defense Forces repelled the attack.
The Air Force reported destroying 86 drones in the north, south and east. Troops recorded 26 strikes at 11 locations, plus debris from downed drones at one site.
Attack aftermath
Russian troops hammered Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with a massive drone barrage overnight, downing 37 over the area, regional governor Serhiy Lysak said.
Some drones hit targets, igniting fires in the Pavlohrad, Kamyanske and the Synelnykove district, and damaging energy infrastructure.
Destruction also struck transport and industrial sites. A 19-year-old man was wounded in the attack and hospitalized in moderate condition.
DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company, reported emergency power outages were imposed in the region.
