Russian strikes halt DTEK gas production sites in Poltava Oblast

Russian forces targeted energy infrastructure belonging to DTEK Naftogaz with drones and missiles overnight into Thursday, forcing the shutdown of gas extraction facilities in Ukraine's Poltava Oblast, the DTEK energy company reported.
DTEK said the strikes halted operations at several gas production sites in the region.
The Poltava Oblast Military Administration confirmed a combined assault on the region, noting damage to energy infrastructure from direct hits and falling debris.
No casualties were reported, but the attack left 6,450 consumers in six territorial communities without gas. Emergency teams are working to address the aftermath.
The strikes come amid repeated Russian assaults on Ukraine's gas sector.
State-owned Naftogaz said last week that Russian forces hit gas extraction sites in Kharkiv Oblast and targeted critical facilities in the Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts three times.
Bloomberg reported that recent Russian attacks have cut Ukraine's domestic gas production by 60%. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine has a backup plan for major attacks on gas infrastructure: imports.
