Russian ballistic missile hit Ukrainian army training unit, causing fatalities

Russian ballistic missiles killed and wounded Ukrainian soldiers at a training unit in a rear area, Operational Command “South” reported on Thursday.

Russian forces struck a training subunit of Ukraine's Land Forces with two ballistic missiles this morning.

The unit, located in a rear and "relatively calm" part of Ukraine, was hit despite safety measures, resulting in deaths and injuries, the command added. Details on the location were not provided.

The wounded are receiving medical aid, and the command will soon contact family members.

The Military Law Enforcement Service is investigating.

Russian attacks on Ukrainian training units

This is not the first such strike. On June 1, Russia hit the 239th "Cherkasy" range in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with an Iskander missile, killing 12 and wounding over 60; former Land Forces commander Mykhailo Drapatyi, now head of Joint Forces, resigned.

On June 4, a missile struck a training unit in Poltava Oblast, killing two.

On June 22, Russian missiles targeted a mechanized brigade's training ground, killing some and injuring at least 14.

Late July, strikes on Honcharivske range killed three and wounded 18. On September 24, another attack hit a Land Forces training unit.
