Russian drones pound Kryvyi Rih, targeting power grid

Russian forces unleashed a massive drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih overnight into Friday, targeting energy infrastructure and causing 10 hits that sparked fires and left 26 settlements without power, city Defense Council head Oleksandr Vilkul reported.

Vilkul said Ukrainian air defenses downed 22 Russian drones over the city, but the strikes ignited blazes at infrastructure sites with no casualties recorded.

The assault knocked out electricity in the villages of Avanhard, Verkhivka and Myrivske, along with 23 other populated areas in the Kryvyi Rih district.

"Power crews are doing everything possible to restore service," Vilkul said. "Trolleybus service to Myrivske is temporarily halted due to downed lines, but a replacement bus has been deployed. Overall, all city services, public transit, hospitals and social facilities are operating normally."
