Russian troops launched 22 missiles of various types and 460 drones at Ukraine overnight into Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The main assault targeted Kyiv and its region, causing widespread damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, with deaths and injuries reported.

At least four drones veered into Moldovan and Romanian airspace during the attack, Zelenskyy said, with Ukraine logging the exact times of the incursions.

"This is precisely why all partners must remember that lives need to be saved every single day," he said. "Weapons and air defense systems are important, as is the sanctions pressure on the aggressor. There can be no pauses in assistance. What matters most now is that all partners move toward diplomacy together, through joint efforts. Pressure on Russia must deliver results."

More on the overnight assault

Russian forces hammered Ukraine's capital with missiles and strike drones, damaging several residential buildings in the Dniprovskyi and Pecherskyi districts and sparking fires that rescuers extinguished.

The assault killed six people and wounded 14.

Russia also struck Odesa Oblast, damaging civilian and energy sites. Fires broke out at port and power infrastructure, with equipment harmed.

Russian troops targeted the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Cherkasy oblasts as well, hitting energy facilities during the combined assault.
