Air defenses neutralize several Kalibr, Iskander missiles and over 400 drones during night attack
Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 486 aerial targets — 22 missiles of various types and 464 drones — overnight into Monday, but Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 452 of them, the Air Force of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported.
The aggressor deployed aeroballistic Kinzhal missiles, Iskander-K and Kalibr cruise missiles, Iskander-M ballistic missiles and Shahed, Gerbera and other unmanned aerial vehicles.
Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups from the Defense Forces repelled the assault.
Air defenses downed:
- 1 of 4 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
- 5 of 7 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- 5 of 8 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 3 of 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
- 438 of 464 strike drones.
More on the overnight attack
Russian forces hammered Ukraine's capital with missiles and strike drones, damaging several residential buildings in the Dniprovskyi and Pecherskyi districts and sparking fires that rescuers extinguished.
The assault killed six people and wounded 14.
Russia also struck Odesa Oblast, damaging civilian and energy sites. Fires broke out at port and power infrastructure, with equipment harmed.
Russian troops targeted the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Cherkasy oblasts as well, hitting energy facilities during the combined assault.
