Russia launched a massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine on the morning of December 23, damaging civilian infrastructure and causing emergency power cuts across the country. Local authorities report casualties in multiple regions of Ukraine.

President Zelensky says that at least 13 regions were under attack. The Russian forces launched more than 600 drones and more than three dozen missiles. Ukrainian Air Defence managed to shoot down most of the air targets.

According to the President, this massive attack was aimed primarily at Ukrainian energy and civilian infrastructure.

In the Zhytomyr region, cruise missiles and drones wreckage damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. The attack injured five people and killed a four-year-old child.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, the attack killed one person. Emergency power cuts were introduced in the region.

In the capital Kyiv, the drone wreckage hit an apartment building in the Svyatoshynskyi District. At least five people are reported injured, including a 16-year-old teenager. The Russian forces also targeted the Kyiv region, injuring at least three people and damaging residential buildings.

In the Rivne region a blast wave damaged windows of an apartment building, no casualties were reported. 

The southern Ukraine was also targeted by Russian drones. In Odesa, the attack caused damage to energy, port, transport, industrial and residential infrastructure. No casualties were reported.
