Two Russian police officers killed in explosion in Moscow were involved in torturing Ukrainian PoWs — Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence
Two Russian police officers killed in an explosion in Moscow on the night of December 24 were involved in torturing Ukrainian prisoners of war, told hromadske a source in Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence.
According to the Russian police, an explosion occurred at night on Yeletskaya Street in Moscow and killed three people, including two police officers. Telegram channel Astra says those killed were lieutenants Ilya Klimanov, 24, and Maxim Gorbunov, 25.
Telegram channel Mash claims the incident took place not far from the location where a Russian General, Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Department of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed by a bomb earlier on December 22.
According to our source in Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, at around 1:00 a.m., a Moscow resident, “as a sign of disagreement with the Kremlin's aggressive policy,” approached a police car near the station and threw an explosive device into the car window.
The source says that the killed Russian police officers are former Russian service members and had been fighting in the war against Ukraine. There is evidence of their involvement in the torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
