Air defenses neutralize 86 of 116 drones, 23 locations hit

Russian troops attacked Ukrainian regions overnight into Friday with 116 drones. Defense Forces neutralized 86 air targets, according to Ukraine's Air Force.

The aggressor launched approximately 70 Shaheds, along with Gerberas and other types of drones. They flew from eight directions: Millerovo, Kursk, Shatalovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as Chauda and Hvardiyske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems subunits, and mobile fire groups.

Preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m. show air defenses downed/suppressed 86 UAVs in the north, south, and east of the country.

Twenty-seven strike drones hit 23 locations, with debris falling in two places. The attack continues.

Attack consequences

According to Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Vladyslav Hayvanenko, Russians struck Slovyanska, Bohynivska, and Vasylkivska territorial communities with drones. Two people were injured; a garage, summer kitchen, and house outbuilding caught fire. A lyceum, gym, and private home were also damaged.

In Kryvyi Rih, the UAV attack damaged vehicles. The enemy also struck Nikopol with FPV drones.

Russian forces did not stop attacking Zaporizhzhia and suburbs over the New Year holidays, including one of the most massive drone attacks this night, regional governor Ivan Fedorov said.

There were no casualties, but occupiers hit city territory nine times with drones. Residential buildings, commercial sites, and infrastructure came under fire. Dozens of homes and commercial premises were damaged.

Novhorod-Siverskyi district military administration head Oleksandr Seliverstov in Chernihiv Oblast reported that Russians attacked a hospital in Semenivka with four strike UAVs.

Outbuildings and garages were completely burned, and a food unit was damaged. Three medical facility service vehicles were destroyed.
