Russia attacks Ukraine with ballistic missiles, over 100 drones overnight

Russian forces struck Ukraine with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones overnight into Wednesday, with air defenses downing or suppressing 90 aerial targets, according to Ukraine's Air Force.

The aggressor fired three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Rostov and Voronezh oblasts in Russia, along with 113 Shahed, Gerbera and other drones launched from Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Ahtarsk, and occupied Crimea’s Chauda and Hvardiyske airfields. About 70 of the drones were Shaheds.

Ukraine’s defenses — including aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups and unmanned systems — repelled the assault.

Preliminary data as of 8 a.m. showed one ballistic missile and 89 drones downed or suppressed in eastern and northern regions.

Authorities recorded impacts from two ballistic missiles and 24 strike drones at 13 locations, plus drone debris falling at three sites. The attack was ongoing.

Aftermath of the attack

Kyiv city governor Tymur Tkachenko denied reports linking a fire in the Obolonskyi district to the bombardment. Earlier, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said a Russian drone struck a 16-story residential building at the eighth floor.

Monitoring channels reported Russian drones still active near the capital.

In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Russian missiles hit the Dnipro district, the regional military administration said.

Kryvyi Rih came under heavy Shahed attack targeting an infrastructure facility. City defense council head Oleksandr Vilkul reported more than 45,000 customers temporarily cut from power and over 700 buildings disconnected from heating at several boiler houses. Energy workers restored supply to all affected consumers by morning.

Russian drones also struck Pavlohrad, Ternivka, Verbkivka community and Shakhtarske in the Synelnykove district, damaging enterprise territories. Artillery fire hit the Nikopol district, damaging three private homes.
