Russia launches a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv, killing at least 4 and injuring 23

Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv overnight on June 15. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine report at least 4 killed and 23 injured. The attack caused fires in nearly every district of the capital.
In the Obolonsky district of Kyiv, the attack targeted a 9-story apartment building and damaged several residential buildings and warehouses. The falling debris caused fires at several sites, setting nearly 30 cars ablaze.
In the Solomianskyi district, Russia hit a 9-story apartment building. Firefighters extinguished the fire and evacuated 15 people, including 2 children. It is also reported that an educational institution in the neighbourhood was hit.
In the Desnianskyi district, a fire broke out in a 9-story apartment building after the attack, and falling debris also destroyed three private homes. The territory of a kindergarten also caught fire.
Fires also broke out in private residential homes in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.
In the Pechersk district, Russia hit a 17-story apartment building causing a fire. Russia’s attack also targeted the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra; the roof of the Assumption Cathedral caught fire.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a farmer’s market was set ablaze. The Russians hit the district’s non-residential building, commercial facilities, and an 8-story apartment building.
In the Holosiivskyi district, a high-rise apartment building was set ablaze, as well as warehouse facilities.
In the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, residential buildings were damaged, and in the Dniprovskyi district, debris fell on a private home.
