Russian drone hits home of large family in Sumy Oblast, killing child, father, and grandmother
A Russian drone struck the home of a large family in Ukraine’s Sumy Oblast early on Monday, killing a 13-year-old boy, his father, and his grandmother, regional prosecutors reported.
The attack took place at about 4:50 a.m. in the Shostka district, where Russian forces directed a drone at the family’s house.
Killed in the strike were the 13-year-old boy, his 36-year-old father, and his 73-year-old grandmother.
The boy’s 31-year-old mother, his 10-year-old brother and his 13-year-old sister were injured.
Prosecutors said they are documenting the aftermath of the attack and have opened a pre-trial investigation into a war crime resulting in deaths under Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.
Earlier that morning, Russian forces also attacked Zaporizhzhia, where a residential building caught fire. One person was killed and three were injured, including an 11-year-old boy.
Late the previous evening, Russian forces struck an agricultural enterprise in Odesa district with an Iskander missile. Preliminary reports said one person was killed and three others were injured.
