Ukraine's Defense Forces strike 697 Russian targets with Deep Strike in first half of 2026, causing over $6bn in damage

Ukraine's Defense Forces struck 697 targets inside Russia using long-range Deep Strike capabilities in the first half of 2026, inflicting more than $6 billion in damage, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said.
Russian forces attempted to launch a large-scale offensive but failed to achieve any of their objectives, despite having nearly double the personnel and equipment.
Syrskyi noted that while Russian forces previously conducted active offensive operations along 13 operational directions, that number has now dropped to "a maximum of six or seven." He said the current ratio of Ukrainian to Russian assault operations stands at roughly 40 to 60.
At the same time, Syrskyi emphasized that Russia has not abandoned its plans to fully occupy the Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts, and continues seeking to expand offensive operations in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, as well as to establish and expand a buffer zone in Ukraine's northern regions.
"That is why the Armed Forces of Ukraine are consistently building up their capabilities — to give the enemy a worthy response and ultimately force the Kremlin toward a just peace on our terms," Syrskyi said.
Over the first half of the year, an additional 7,028 Russian targets were struck using Middle Strike assets. Ukrainian artillery carried out more than 456,000 fire missions, missile forces conducted over 1,140 strikes, the Air Force's aviation carried out more than 1,100 strikes, and support units conducted approximately 1,400 operations.
