University in Russia’s Belgorod that reportedly produced drones appears to have been hit
Explosions were reported overnight in the Russian city of Belgorod, where local public channels said a university involved in assembling and testing drones appeared to have come under attack, Astra reported, citing the local Telegram channel Pepel Belgorod.
Footage from the scene indicated that a fire broke out overnight at V.G. Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University.

The university’s official channel had previously said the institution was developing an automated UAV control system based on the domestic Milandr microprocessor, though the university described the project as having civilian applications.
In the summer of 2026, the university also announced enrollment for school-age students in summer sessions focused on drone development.
Local authorities had not officially reported the consequences of the attack as of publication. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had shot down 131 Ukrainian drones overnight into August 3.
