Drones strike Russia's Tula Oblast, setting one of Wildberries’ largest warehouses on fire
Drones attacked the town of Aleksin in Russia’s Tula Oblast overnight, setting one of Wildberries’ largest logistics warehouses on fire, as reported by Governor Dmitry Milyaev.
Russian air defenses allegedly destroyed 107 drones during the attack.
He reported damage to several sites in the region and confirmed that a Wildberries warehouse had been hit and had caught fire.
One of the company’s largest warehouses is located in Aleksin. Covering more than 190,000 square meters, the facility serves Tula, Kaluga, Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Ryazan and other nearby regions of central Russia.
An attack was also reported in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Tatarstan Republic.
Attacks on Wildberries warehouses
Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, has said that Ukrainian drones had already struck 15 warehouses belonging to the Russian marketplace Wildberries. The site in Tula Oblast became the 16th.
Since July 18, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have attacked a number of Wildberries warehouses in Russia, including in the Moscow, Tambov and Ryazan oblasts, Krasnodar and Stavropol krais, St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast, as well as in Yekaterinburg, Penza Oblast and Udmurtia.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has described the campaign as a response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. He said the sites had been used to supply sanctioned components for the production of drones and navigation equipment.
