Russian double-tap drone strike kills 2 police officers in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast; 1 killed in Odesa

Two Ukrainian police officers were killed and another seriously injured in a Russian double-tap drone strike in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast overnight on Sept. 4. Russian attacks also killed one person in Odesa and injured another in Kropyvnytskyi, local authorities said.

Odesa

A Russian overnight attack damaged residential buildings and cars in Odesa, according to city authorities.

Three people were initially reported injured. Odesa City Military Administration head Serhii Lysak later said one person had died as a result of the attack.

An emergency response center was set up in the affected area to assist residents.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Russian forces attacked the Bohdanivka community in Pavlohrad district. While police officers were responding at the scene, Russia launched a second drone strike, Ukraine’s National Police said.

Captain Oleksandr Hryhorenko was killed at the scene. Senior Lieutenant Serhii Shmatko sustained serious injuries and later died in hospital. A third police officer was seriously injured and remains hospitalized.

Kropyvnytskyi

A Russian drone struck a nine-story residential building in Kropyvnytskyi, setting its roof on fire, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said.
