Drone attack sparks fire at industrial site in Russia's Novy Urengoy, 3,200 km from Ukraine

A drone attack sparked a fire at an industrial facility in Novy Urengoy in Russia's Yamalo-Nenets region, about 3,200 kilometers (2,000 miles) from the Ukrainian border, according to regional Governor Dmitry Artyukhov.

Artyukhov said the fire broke out after drone debris fell on the facility. No one was killed or injured, while the extent of the damage was still being assessed.

The governor did not identify the facility.

The Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported that the site was the Novy Urengoy gas condensate treatment plant, which prepares gas condensate for transportation. The channel said pressure was being released from the plant's system following the attack.

The facility has a reported processing capacity of about 19.5 million metric tons of raw material per year.

Ukraine has not commented on the attack or claimed responsibility.
