Trump says Ukraine and Russia agreed to stop strikes on energy targets

US President Donald Trump says Ukraine and Russia have agreed to stop striking each other's energy targets, although neither Kyiv nor Moscow has publicly confirmed such an agreement.

“Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian Energy targets. Russia has agreed to do, likewise!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sept. 14.

Trump also linked rising global diesel prices primarily to Russia's war against Ukraine rather than the conflict with Iran.

“The World's Diesel price rise is mostly caused by the Russia/Ukraine War, not Iran,” he wrote.

A day earlier, Trump publicly called on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy facilities, arguing that the attacks were contributing to diesel shortages.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russian oil refineries and other energy facilities as part of its campaign against infrastructure supporting Moscow's war effort.
