Russian airstrike kills 4 in Donetsk Oblast, 8 more may be trapped under rubble
At least four people were killed and four injured, including a child, after Russian forces dropped four aerial bombs on the town of Oleksandrivka in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast on Sept. 23, regional authorities said. Eight more people may remain trapped under the rubble.
Russian forces struck the town at around 10 a.m., destroying an apartment building and damaging 11 others, as well as 42 houses, a kindergarten, a store, an administrative building and six vehicles, Donetsk Oblast Governor Vadym Filashkin said.
Eight people may still be trapped beneath the rubble, including two children born in 2024 and 2025. Rescue operations are ongoing.
Russia also used cluster munitions in an attack on Kramatorsk at around 11:45 a.m., according to Donetsk Oblast police.
Nine people - four women and five men between the ages of 46 and 74 - were injured in the strike. One of them is in serious condition. Eight houses were damaged.
Elsewhere, a Russian drone struck a car in the village of Bezruky in Kharkiv Oblast, killing a 68-year-old man and injuring a 52-year-old woman, according to regional authorities.
Russian forces also launched guided aerial bombs at Sumy, injuring at least four people. Residential areas and civilian infrastructure were hit, while a large fire broke out at one of the impact sites.
