Ukraine expands backup systems after Russian strikes on data centers

The funding will be used to create geographically separate backup environments and facilities, expand cloud infrastructure and purchase servers, software and systems for backing up and restoring data, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said.

The measures are intended to allow government systems and services to recover more quickly if infrastructure is damaged by Russian strikes or cyberattacks.

The decision follows a series of attacks on Ukrainian digital infrastructure in recent days. Data centers in Kyiv have been damaged in Russian strikes, disrupting internet access and the operations of several media outlets.

Russia's Defense Ministry has publicly acknowledged targeting Ukrainian data centers, describing the attacks as a “digital detox.”
