A Russian strike hit a bridge over the Dnipro River in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Oct. 6, injuring five people, including two Red Cross workers who were on their way to work, regional authorities said.

The five people injured included two women aged 24 and 59, a 36-year-old man, and two Red Cross workers aged 43 and 54, according to Zaporizhzhia regional authorities.

The strike came during a broader overnight Russian drone attack on Ukraine. The Air Force said Russia launched 137 drones, including Shahed-type attack drones and other models. Forty-nine were jet-powered drones.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 114 drones, according to preliminary figures as of 8 a.m. The Air Force recorded strikes at 17 locations and debris from downed drones at four more.

The attack was still underway when the Air Force issued its morning update, with several Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
