US to present new Ukraine peace proposals at Miami talks, Axios reports

US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are set to present new proposals aimed at restarting negotiations to end Russia's war against Ukraine during two days of talks with Ukrainian and European officials in Miami beginning October 9, Axios reported.
Witkoff and Kushner met with President Donald Trump on October 8 to discuss the latest US peace initiative and receive his input ahead of the Miami talks, according to a US official cited by Axios.
The Ukrainian delegation includes presidential chief of staff Kyrylo Budanov, Foreign Intelligence Service director Rustem Umerov, diplomatic adviser Serhiy Kyslytsia and lawmaker Davyd Arakhamia.
National security advisers from the United Kingdom, France and Germany have also been invited, along with representatives of NATO and the European Union.
The discussions are expected to cover security guarantees for Ukraine, postwar economic recovery and proposals for a partial ceasefire covering energy infrastructure and grain shipments.
Ukraine has expressed willingness to consider such a ceasefire, while Russia has shown little interest in the proposal.
"They are all nervous about the winter. It will be a tough winter if the war does not stop," a US source told Axios.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on October 8 that Ukraine was discussing a possible energy and grain ceasefire with Washington but declined to assess its prospects.
According to Axios, Witkoff and Kushner may travel to Moscow later in October for further discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. No visit has been confirmed.
