Russian forces strike Epicentr warehouse 10 times in one day, destroying 85% of stored goods

Russian forces attacked the last major logistics distribution center of Ukrainian retail chain Epicentr 10 times on October 13, destroying approximately 85% of the goods stored at the facility in Khmelnytskyi, the company said.

The attacks sparked five major fires, while around 30 drones in the area prevented firefighters from extinguishing the flames, according to Epicentr.

The company said the warehouse complex had burned down and that none of its employees were injured.

The Khmelnytskyi facility was effectively Epicentr's last surviving large distribution center after Russian forces previously destroyed its two largest logistics complexes in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast.

Goods were shipped from the Khmelnytskyi warehouse to Epicentr retail stores across Ukraine.

"This is not just lost merchandise. It is destroyed logistics, enormous financial losses, and months and years of work by thousands of people," the company said.

Epicentr warned that the destruction would affect its ability to operate, pay salaries, preserve jobs, and contribute to Ukraine's economy.

"We have had to start over so many times that you would think we would be used to it. But it is impossible to get used to something like this," the company said.

The company did not provide a monetary estimate of its losses.

Separately, Khmelnytskyi Oblast Governor Serhii Tiurin reported that six people were injured in Russian attacks across the region on October 13. Epicentr said none of its employees were among the casualties.
