Moscow reports 613 incoming drones as suspected strike targets chemical plant in Bashkortostan

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 613 drones flew toward the Moscow region overnight on October 28–29, while reports of a separate drone attack emerged from Russia's Bashkortostan republic, where a major chemical complex may have been targeted.

According to Sobyanin, the drones approached the Moscow region between 8:30 p.m. on October 28 and 7 a.m. on October 29. He claimed Russian air defenses neutralized most of them at a distance, including 231 intercepted on the approaches to Moscow. The figures could not be independently verified.

Russian airports Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky temporarily restricted flights amid the reported attacks, according to the independent Russian outlet ASTRA.

Meanwhile, videos circulating on Telegram showed smoke rising over Sterlitamak, a city in Bashkortostan, following reports of drone activity early on October 29.

OSINT analysts at ASTRA reported that the Bashkir Soda Company chemical complex may have been targeted, although damage to the facility has not been confirmed.

The complex is among Russia's largest chemical production sites and the country's only producer of terephthaloyl chloride, a chemical used in manufacturing materials including protective armor.
