Ukrainian delegation reaches Russian-occupied Oleshky as ceasefire holds for 80 hours

A Ukrainian delegation has safely arrived in Russian-occupied Oleshky in Kherson Oblast to carry out a humanitarian mission, Ukraine's Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets said on October 30.

According to Lubinets, the temporary ceasefire in the area has now held for 80 hours, allowing the delegation to reach the city.

He said he was communicating with local residents to learn about their most urgent needs and determine what assistance they require.

"Our main priority is people who need help. We are doing everything possible to support them and help everyone who needs it," Lubinets said.

The development comes as Ukrainian authorities prepare to evacuate 527 residents of Oleshky to Ukrainian-controlled territory via Belarus.

Earlier on October 30, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi said preliminary medical assessments were being organized for those preparing to leave. Ukrainian officials have also prepared 25 buses with a total capacity of 750 passengers, along with ambulances for people with limited mobility.

The ceasefire, which began on October 27, is scheduled to remain in effect until November 1.

Ukrainian authorities have not yet announced that the evacuation has begun.
