Attack on largest factory for production of explosives in Russia was joint operation of SBU and Armed Forces
Overnight on October 19, SBU and Defense Forces drones hit the Sverdlovsk factory in Dzerzhynsk, in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast of the Russian Federation. This is the largest enterprise for the production of explosives, sources in the security forces told hromadske.
At this plant, the Russians reportedly produce explosives, aviation and artillery shells, aerial bombs, in particular guided aerial bombs, warheads of cumulative anti-tank guided missiles, warheads for air defense missile systems.
The distance from the Ukrainian border to the plant is 900 km.
Earlier, locals reported hearing explosions over Dzerzhynsk at approximately 3:30 a.m. The Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Gleb Nikitin, said that the anti-aircraft defense and EW devices almost repelled the drone attack in the area of the industrial zone, and as a result of falling debris, four firefighters who were there suffered minor shrapnel injuries.
In total, as reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, 110 drones were shot down over Russia. Ukraine is blamed for the attack, while Kyiv has not commented on the incident.
