U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the FBI to declassify documents tied to “Crossfire Hurricane,” the 2016 probe into possible coordination between his campaign and Russian officials, a move he hailed as exposing a “disgraceful” political weaponization of law enforcement, The Hill and Fox News reported.

The directive, signed by Trump, targets the once-secret investigation launched in July 2016 under the codename “Crossfire Hurricane,” aimed at uncovering whether Trump campaign members colluded with Russian officials to sway that year’s election.

Trump and his allies have long decried it as a partisan witch hunt.

“This was total weaponization. It’s a disgrace…but now you’ll be able to see for yourselves,” Trump declared as he authorized the release.

The Hill and Fox News noted the order reignites a years-long feud over the probe’s legitimacy, which shadowed his first term.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s 2019 report, concluding the investigation, confirmed Russian interference in the 2016 election but found no concrete evidence linking Trump or his team to the meddling.
