Russia sends document to US in which it reiterates its demands to end war in Ukraine — Reuters

Russia sent the United States an unofficial document listing conditions for ending the war in Ukraine, reiterating all its previous demands, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The communique specifically repeated Russia's demand that Ukraine hand over the entire Donetsk Oblast to Russia. The Kremlin also stressed that NATO troops should not be deployed in Ukraine under any peace agreement.

Those conditions contradict calls by President Donald Trump to freeze the current frontline. Still, the White House chief sees such an outcome as possible, Reuters reported.

A White House representative told the news agency that there are no plans for a Trump meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin "in the immediate future."

Trump has previously said he supports freezing the Russia-Ukraine war along existing front lines and denied urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to cede all of Donetsk Oblast.

“We think what they should do is just stop at those lines where they are now, at the front lines. The rest is very hard to discuss if you’re going to say, ‘You take this, we take that,’” Trump said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has refused to cede any territory to Moscow.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said Russia's position on Trump's proposal to freeze the frontline for negotiations remains unchanged.
