Russian strikes target eastern Ukraine's power grid, triggering emergency blackouts
Russian forces struck energy infrastructure in Ukraine's Donetsk and Kharkiv oblasts, the Energy Ministry reported.
Emergency restoration work is underway. To stabilize the grid, emergency blackouts are in effect in Kharkiv, Sumy and Poltava oblasts.
Nationwide, restrictions continue due to previous massive attacks: hourly outages of 0.5 to 2.5 queues, plus capacity limits for industrial consumers and businesses.
Energy workers urged rational electricity use throughout the day, especially during morning and evening peaks.
Ukrenergo reported high consumption. Yesterday's daily peak was recorded in the evening and was 2% higher than the previous day's maximum on November 24, due to reduced restrictions.
"The need for economical consumption remains," energy workers said. "Please limit use of high-power appliances. Where possible, shift energy-intensive processes to nighttime hours — after 10 p.m. Saving electricity will shorten forced outages."
