Ukraine and IMF agree on new support program worth $8.2 billion

Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund have reached a staff-level agreement on a new support program worth $8.2 billion, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on X.
The program will finance critical spending, maintain macroeconomic stability and attract additional external aid, Svyrydenko said. The four-year deal totals $8.2 billion and awaits approval by the IMF's executive board.
Svyrydenko highlighted ongoing collaboration with the fund. The IMF affirmed the resilience of Ukraine's economy and the country's commitment to reforms, she added.
The International Monetary Fund said the government pledged to accelerate efforts to combat tax evasion and broaden the tax base, alongside implementing a debt restructuring strategy to restore sustainability.
In September, Svyrydenko said Ukraine proposed a new cooperation program to the IMF, with the Cabinet expecting board approval by year's end.
In June, the IMF completed its eighth review under the Extended Fund Facility for Ukraine — and the country received a $500 million tranche the following month. Overall, the IMF has provided $13.3 billion to Ukraine since the full-scale invasion began.
