Russia attacks Ukrainian coal mine with drones for six straight hours overnight

Russian troops attacked a state-owned coal mine with drones for more than six consecutive hours overnight into Friday, according to the Energy Ministry.

According to the ministry, about 18 hits were recorded at the site. This caused a fire; two workers were injured. Rescuers extinguished the blaze over several hours.

The Energy Ministry provided no other details about this attack.

This is not the first time Russian forces have targeted Ukrainian mines and gas production facilities as part of massive attacks on Ukraine's energy sector. According to the Energy Ministry, in the past year alone, the aggressor has fired 1,800 missiles, 50,000 drones and attempted to destroy energy facilities 4,500 times.

"Modern history knows no examples of an energy system of a single state operating under such conditions — conditions of such large-scale and targeted terror. This terror, unfortunately, intensifies every day," Deputy Energy Minister Roman Andarak said.
