Poland detains six suspected of supplying military materials to Russia on behalf of its intelligence services

Poland's Internal Security Agency (ABW) has detained six people suspected of illegally supplying Russia with materials used to manufacture ammunition and weapons systems while acting on behalf of Russian intelligence services, Polish intelligence services coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak announced on November 5.
The suspects include five Polish citizens aged 25 to 52 and a 37-year-old Russian woman.
According to Siemoniak, investigators believe the six were members of an organized criminal group operating against Poland and involved in supplying significant quantities of materials intended for military use to Russia.
"The gathered evidence indicates that the detainees were conducting activities on behalf of Russian special services and participated in practices supporting the military potential of the Russian Federation," Siemoniak said.
A court ordered four suspects held in pretrial detention on espionage charges. The remaining two were placed under noncustodial preventive measures.
Between October 21 and November 2, ABW officers searched 21 locations across the Warmian-Masurian, Pomeranian and Greater Poland regions.
The investigation is being supervised by the regional prosecutor's office in Białystok, with investigative procedures carried out by ABW officers based in Olsztyn.
Siemoniak did not specify the materials allegedly supplied, their origin or the routes used to transport them to Russia.
The investigation remains ongoing.
According to the minister, nearly 100 people have been designated suspects in espionage and sabotage investigations conducted by Poland's Internal Security Agency since January 1, 2024.
