Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Romania's President Nicușor Dan signed agreements on energy cooperation, joint defense production, and strategic partnership during a meeting in Kyiv, according to the Office of the President broadcast.

The leaders signed framework arrangements for collaboration in the energy sector, a letter of intent on co-producing defense products and a declaration establishing strategic partnership between Ukraine and Romania.

At a joint briefing, the leaders announced progress on opening new border crossing points — with results expected this summer — and the start of construction on two new power transmission lines to support Ukrainian regions, including Chernivtsi Oblast.

Zelenskyy also said Ukraine will now annually observe August 31 as Romanian Language Day, per a presidential decree, to strengthen bilateral ties.
