Defense aid from Poland, return of deported child: highlights of the day

Ukraine has returned another child deported by Russia from Kherson Oblast, and Poland has agreed on a new defense aid package for Ukrainians. We have collected the main news for the day.

Defense aid from Poland

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during his visit to Poland, a new package of military aid for Ukraine was agreed upon. It includes armored personnel carriers, air defense systems, mortars, MiG fighters, and more.

"Today, we are signing a document on the supply of Polish Rosomak armored personnel carriers, Rak self-propelled mortars, air defense systems, including the very effective Piorun, MiGs, and other weapons that we need so much," the Ukrainian president said.

According to Zelenskyy, the parties also discussed the creation of joint ventures for the production of weapons and ammunition. "Very substantive agreements," he emphasized.

Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Poland had already handed over four MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, and the same number are currently being delivered. In addition, the country is ready to send six more such aircraft in the near future.

Return of deported child

Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said that Ukraine managed to return Artem, a minor who was deported by Russia from the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson Oblast.

The Ombudsman said that at the beginning of the year, his grandmother asked him to assist in the return of her grandson Artem, who, along with other children from the Oleshky orphanage in Kherson Oblast, was deported to Russia.

"Following my appeal to the guardianship and custody authority to take measures to protect the rights and interests of the child, in February the grandmother was appointed guardian of her grandson and other measures were taken to return the child to the territory controlled by Ukraine," the Ombudsman noted.
