The US investigators are closing in on the source of the leak of classified intelligence documents, and the name of a military officer who may be responsible was revealed. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office announced that it was checking the video of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier. We have collected the main news for the day.

New details of the investigation into the leaked Pentagon documents

Journalists name Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard's intelligence wing, as the administrator of the Thug Shaker Central group on Discord, where the leaked documents were allegedly first distributed.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested a suspect in the case of leaking classified documents —U.S. National Guardsman Jack Teixeira. U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed this and noted that the detainee would be prosecuted in a federal district court in Massachusetts on April 13.

Russia "checking" video of beheading of Ukrainian serviceman

Russia's Prosecutor General's Office said it is checking the video of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier. The Ukrainian ombudsman said that Ukraine's intelligence already "roughly knows" who and where could have committed this crime.

The Gulagu.net project stated that the former commander of the Wagner PMC, Andrey Medvedev, who is currently in a Swedish deportation prison, recognized Wagner mercenaries in the footage. The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, told reporters that Medvedev "spent two days in the Wagner PMC" and allegedly could not identify anyone.

Meanwhile, on April 13, the European Union added two of Prigozin's organizations to its sanctions list: the Wagner PMC itself and the online news outlet Federal News Agency (RIA FAN). The latter is part of the Patriot media group, which is engaged in propaganda and information support for Wagner.

Ukrainian man sets himself on fire in Krakow

On the morning of April 13, a Ukrainian living in Poland attempted self-immolation near the building of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Krakow. The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition. His condition is critical.

The women who witnessed the Ukrainian's self-immolation in Krakow said that he shouted slogans about fighting corruption, disappointment in his own country, and complained that he had not received help from anyone in the 10 years he had lived in Poland.

New aid

The Council of the European Union has supported the allocation of 1 billion euros under the European Peace Facility mechanism to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This will allow EU member states to reimburse ammunition provided to Ukraine from their stockpiles or through reprioritization of existing orders from February 9 to May 31, 2023.

Meanwhile, Germany, according to media reports, has allowed Poland to transfer Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. Poland has already handed over MiG-29s, but aircraft from the old stockpiles of the German Democratic Republic require Berlin's permission.
