Ukraine faces up to 20 hours a day without electricity

Given the cold winter and new massive Russian attacks on nuclear power plants, Ukraine may face power outages up to 20 hours a day. Experts call the situation critical and express hope that international partners will provide assistance to Ukraine as soon as possible, reported Politico, citing Ukrainian energy experts.

Sandu won the elections in Moldova

The Central Election Commission of Moldova has finished counting the votes of citizens who voted in the second round of the presidential election. The current head of state, Maia Sandu, won the victory, 55.33% of the voters voted for her.

44.67% voted for her opponent, former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo.

Russia, in the first days of the full-scale invasion, offered Ukraine an agreement that would effectively have meant Ukrainian capitulation.

According to journalists, if the Ukrainian authorities agreed to these conditions, it would turn Ukraine into a puppet entity with a fictitious neutral status, with a tiny, toothless army, without protection from NATO states, and without chances to regain control over Crimea and Donbas, having to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in their entirety, as well as large territories that were still under the control of Kyiv at that time.

Journalist calls for civilian prisoners to be given a deferral from mobilization

Journalist and former prisoner Volodymyr Fomichov called on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as other senior political and military leadership of Ukraine, to grant civilians who were captured by Russia the right to defer mobilization.

The Verkhovna Rada has already registered the corresponding bill No. 12133.

The EU should reconsider its support for Ukraine if Trump wins, says Orbán

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that the European Union will be forced to review its aid to Ukraine if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election.

The Ukrainians answered how long they are ready to endure the war

63% of Ukrainians are still ready to endure the war as long as necessary. This is 10% less than in 2022 and 2023.

At the same time, 6% of respondents noted that they are ready to endure the war for another year, 4% declared their readiness to bear the burden of hostilities for another six months, 15% — for several months, and the remaining 12% could not answer this question. These are the survey data of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

Ex-policemen who raped a woman in Kaharlyk were sentenced

The Kyiv Court of Appeal upheld the sentence of two former law enforcement officers who raped a woman in the Kaharlyk police station in 2020.

In May 2023, the Obukhiv District Court of Kyiv sentenced the defendants to 11 years in prison. The National Police was also ordered to pay moral compensation of 1.2 million hryvnias ($28,935) to the victim, Nelia Pohrebytska.

5G communication will be launched in Lviv

Lviv will be the first city where the 5G communication network will be tested. If the equipment does not affect the work of the military, then such a project will appear in Kyiv and Odesa.

At the same time, the Ministry of Digital Affairs emphasizes that there is currently no question of a full-fledged launch of the network. Most likely, the new technology will initially function in a few base stations, rather than covering the entire city.
