Convictions in Zakarpattya rape case

Two individuals accused of raping a girl in Zakarpattya Oblast in 2021 have been sentenced to six years in prison.

The court also ordered them to pay 300,000 hryvnias ($7,233) in moral damages to the victim. The victim's lawyers anticipate that the sentences may be appealed.

Trump and Zelenskyy may meet next week

US President Donald Trump has said he wants to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy next week (February 10-16). The meeting could take place in Washington.

Defense Minister Umerov has two new deputies

Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov introduced two new deputy ministers: Lieutenant General Yevhen Moysiuk and Captain Valeriy Churkin.

Moysiuk previously served as the presidential envoy for implementing international security guarantees and developing Ukraine's defense forces.

Churkin is an officer and combat veteran who heads the Center for Scaling Technological Solutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Some suspects in land corruption in Kyiv taken into custody

A court ordered the detention of officials suspected of land seizure in Kyiv, including Kyiv City Council member Petro Olenych and the head of the land commission, Mykhailo Terentiev. They were detained with the possibility of bail.

A kilogram of hair was removed from the stomach of a 15-year-old girl

A 15-year-old girl from Zaporizhzhia underwent surgery at a Lviv hospital to remove a kilogram of hair from her stomach. She had been treated for gastritis for a long time, but her condition did not improve. It was discovered that she had unknowingly swallowed hair, leading to serious health issues.

Attack on a high-rise building in Sumy Oblast

The Russian forces attacked the village of Myropillia in Sumy Oblast late on the evening of February 6. According to preliminary information, the aggressor dropped three guided aerial bombs on a two-story apartment building. Three people died in the attack. Their bodies were recovered from the rubble.
