Ukraine produces drones capable of striking targets in Russia from 1,800 kilometers, says spy chief

Ukraine is producing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) capable of traveling up to 1,800 kilometers, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, said on Facebook.
The spymaster asserted that Russia's infrastructure, which supports the war, will continue to suffer losses. Military airfields that pose a constant threat to peaceful Ukrainian cities are "shaking from air attacks," he said.
According to Budanov, the unmanned systems currently being developed by experts, including representatives of the Defense Intelligence, already allow for striking military targets of the aggressor state at distances up to 1,800 kilometers.
Over the past year, cyber experts from the military intelligence have conducted dozens of successful operations, obtaining valuable information for Ukraine. They have infiltrated Russian databases and identified weaknesses in their communications.
Production of drones in Ukraine
During a year-end press conference in 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine plans to produce 1 million drones and increase artillery production in 2024.
The then-head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries, Alexander Kamyshin, clarified that 1 million drones announced by Zelenskyy are only FPV (First Person View) drones. Additionally, there is the capability to produce over 10,000 strike drones of medium and long range.
By the end of May 2024, the head of the defense tech cluster Brave1, Natalia Kushnirska, reported that Ukraine "definitely has" 1 million drones.
Later, Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klymenko revealed in an interview with SMALL TALK that almost 100% of the drones for the Armed Forces are currently produced in Ukraine, with the largest share coming from private businesses.
According to data from the Ministry of Strategic Industries, Ukraine has the capacity to produce 3 million drones of various types annually, but funding is required.
