The number of people injured in a Russian drone attack on the city of Poltava has risen to 47, regional officials said. Two people were also reported killed.

Emergency crews have completed search and repair work at the site of the Russian strike on the Poltava territorial community. Municipal services continue to operate in the area.

According to police, two officers were among those injured. Medical workers are providing necessary treatment to all victims.

“The enemy is insidious and unpredictable, so we urge everyone to stay alert and not ignore air raid sirens,” police said in a statement. “If you witness anyone obstructing access to shelters, report it immediately by calling 102.”

What is known about the attack?

On the morning of July 3, Russian forces launched several strikes on Poltava using Shahed attack drones.

Ukraine’s Land Forces confirmed that one drone hit a building housing a territorial recruitment and social support center, sparking a fire. Another drone struck a private home near the military enlistment office.

Land Forces spokesperson Vitaliy Sarantsev said the strike on the enlistment center in Poltava was deliberate and aimed at disrupting Ukraine’s mobilization efforts.

In total, the Russian attack damaged 10 apartment buildings, 7 private homes, 2 educational institutions, and several buildings owned by private businesses.
