Kyiv death toll rises to 23 after Russian attack

The death toll from Russia’s large-scale attack on Kyiv in the early hours of Thursday, has increased to 23, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

The State Emergency Service (SES) previously reported 52 injured, while Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko cited a higher figure of 63 wounded individuals.

8:05 a.m. update: The SES stated that rescue operations in Kyiv are ongoing, with service psychologists providing support to 147 people.

In the Darnytskyi district, a destroyed five-story building accounted for 22 of the 23 total fatalities in Kyiv, which included four children.

Details of Russia’s Overnight Attack

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 31 missiles and 598 drones, targeting the capital among other areas. The attack damaged a Nova Poshta sorting depot, injuring three workers. Offices of Ukrainska Pravda and Radio Liberty, as well as the European Union mission and British Council buildings in Kyiv, were also damaged.

Additionally, Russian forces struck critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia Oblast, leaving 60,000 consumers without electricity.
