Russian artillery kills 2, wounds 8 in Kherson strike

Russian troops fired artillery at Kherson around 11 a.m. on Friday, killing two civilians and wounding eight, the Kherson Oblast Prosecutor's Office reported.

The State Emergency Service said shelling struck one city district, damaging trade pavilions and sparking a fire. Rescuers operated amid risks of follow-up attacks.

Kherson Oblast Military Administration head Oleksandr Prokudin identified the dead as a 51-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman.

Prosecutors said eight civilians suffered injuries, with details still being clarified.

Authorities opened a pre-trial investigation into a war crime (Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code).

Previous attacks

According to the police, Russian forces attacked Kherson Oblast throughout October 30 with artillery, mortars and various drones.

One strike hit a medical facility in Kherson; shrapnel pierced a ward wall, injuring an 83-year-old patient with blast trauma, forearm wound and arterial bleeding.

Police recorded damage to 14 sites, one death and seven injured.
