Two dead in Russia's overnight attacks on Kyiv city and region

Russian troops struck Kyiv and the region overnight into Monday. In the capital, a medical facility came under attack; in Kyiv Oblast, residential homes and critical infrastructure were targeted, according to the State Emergency Service and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Russians hit a four-story medical building with an operating inpatient department. A fire broke out on the second floor level.

Rescuers extinguished the fire, and during building inspection found one person's body. 25 people were evacuated. Three people were initially reported injured in the attack, two hospitalized in serious condition.

As of 7:50 a.m., the number of injured rose to four, Mayor Klitschko said. He also clarified that the deceased man was a patient in the medical facility.

This night, a man born in 1951 was killed in a Russian strike on the Fastiv district, Kyiv regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk said.

"His body was found while extinguishing a fire in his own home. Sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. We share your pain," Kalashnyk said.

In the Fastiv district, seven private homes and one apartment building were damaged, along with garages, two vehicles, production and warehouse premises.

In addition, Slavutych lost power due to the Russian attack. All critical infrastructure sites switched to backup power. The city has heating and water.
