Russia hits rail infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, 500 passengers evacuated

Russian forces attacked railway infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on Monday morning, prompting the timely evacuation of about 500 passengers from a suburban train, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) and the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development reported.
The air threat monitoring center had warned train crews in the risk zone. One suburban train was stopped at the nearest station, and passengers were safely evacuated. The locomotive crew of a freight train also evacuated in time. Shortly afterward, Russian forces struck near the locomotive.
No passengers or railway workers were injured, thanks to the coordinated actions of railway staff, the ministry said.
Once the air threat was lifted, passengers were returned to the train, which continued its route.
“Air threat monitoring on train routes continues constantly. This allows us to respond quickly to risks and minimize danger to people. We thank railway workers for their professionalism and coordinated work, and passengers for their trust and strict adherence to instructions,” the ministry stated.
In March, Ukrzaliznytsia announced strengthened passenger safety rules on the road. Carriage attendants now announce evacuation if there is a threat near the railway route.
