Russia launches 73 missiles and 656 drones at Ukraine overnight – Air Force
Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with 73 missiles and 656 drones, for a total of 729 aerial weapons, with Kyiv named as the main target, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
Other major targets included Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava Oblast, and other areas.
According to the Air Force, the 73 missiles included:
- 8 3M22 Zircon anti-ship missiles
- 5 Kalibr cruise missiles
- 33 Iskander-M ballistic missiles
- 27 Kh-101 cruise missiles
The 656 drones included Shahed attack drones, Gerbera and Italmas drones, Banderol loitering munitions and Parodiya decoy drones.
Ukraine’s air defenses shot down or suppressed 642 targets, including 40 missiles and 602 drones, according to the Air Force.
Those included:
- 11 Iskander-M ballistic missiles
- 26 Kh-101 cruise missiles
- 3 Kalibr cruise missiles
- 602 drones of various types
Russia’s June 2 attack on Ukraine
Russian forces struck Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine overnight with ballistic missiles and drones.
In Kyiv, residential buildings were damaged in many districts of the capital. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said at least four people were killed and 63 injured. 40 of the wounded were hospitalized, including two children.
Kyiv’s Podilskyi district suffered the heaviest destruction. A strike on a nine-story residential building caused partial collapse of the upper floors. At least five people were reported injured there, and others may still be trapped under the rubble.
In the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Chernihiv oblasts, dozens of people were reported injured. In Dnipro, six people were killed.
