Nine injured in Sunday strike on Zaporizhzhia apartment building — police

Nine people have been injured in a Russian strike on an apartment building in Zaporizhzhia on the evening of July 12, police reported, as the toll continued to rise overnight.

The attack occurred at 10:34 p.m. on July 12. The building sustained significant damage from the attack, and a fire broke out in apartments on the second, third and fourth floors following the strike.

Nearby buildings and cars were also damaged by the blast wave and shrapnel.

As of 8 a.m. on July 13, nine people are known to have been injured, including a 15-year-old boy. Information on the injured is still being confirmed.

In total, according to the State Emergency Service, five fires broke out in Zaporizhzhia and its suburbs on July 12, including a fire in a suburb where rescuers were extinguishing a fire in an agricultural area where agricultural machinery was burning. In total, 11 people were injured in the attacks.

Law enforcement has opened an investigation into a suspected war crime under Part 1, Article 438 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.
