Mourners in Kyiv Oblast bid farewell to Moseichuk brothers, whose murders are linked to 155th Brigade case

Residents of the village of Kalynivka in Kyiv Oblast gathered to bid farewell to Maksym and Roman Moseychuk, whose abduction and killing investigators say involved soldiers from Ukraine’s 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, according to hromadske’s correspondent.
More than 200 people attended the farewell, including relatives, brothers-in-arms, and fellow villagers.
Yuriy Bohdanov, head of the Rokytne territorial community, said the two men had no conflicts with local officials or residents.
“The Moseychuk brothers, who died at the hands of executioners, were kind and sincere, responsible and incredibly humane. That is the kind of men they were. There was never any negativity from them — not toward me as head of the community, not toward the village elder, not toward the police. They lived their lives. In 2023, we all said farewell to their father and the entire community honored his, and their, sacrifice. But today, unfortunately, such a tragedy has come to the Moseychuk family and to the community,” he said.
Bohdanov called for accountability for those behind the killings.
“All those guilty are already before the court. The trial will be fair. Our goal and the goal of law enforcement is to ensure that those responsible for the killing of our guys do not avoid responsibility and receive just punishment. We will remember our fellow villagers. Eternal memory to them,” he said.
The procession in Kalynivka passed by the fence of the home of Stanislav Luchanov, commander of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, who is suspected of involvement in the killings. Graffiti on the fence read: “Degenerates,” “executioners” and “murderers.”
People were also seen holding signs that read, “Rank does not give the right to kill” and “What kills is not loudness, but impunity.” Participants displayed those signs, along with Ukrainian flags, during a demonstrative motorcycle procession past Luchanov’s house.
Murders in Kyiv Oblast
Earlier in July, hromadske sources in the Defense Forces and law enforcement said nine fighters from the 155th Mechanized Brigade had been detained on suspicion of abducting two civilian men from Kalynivka, while brigade commander Stanislav Luchanov was declared wanted. Operational Command South later confirmed that Luchanov had left his unit without authorization.
On July 13, law enforcement detained Luchanov in Kyiv. He became the 10th suspect in the Moseychuk brothers case.
Investigators say the attackers entered the brothers’ home, threatened them with weapons, forcibly took them to another region, held them illegally and killed them. One of the brothers had at least 16 gunshot wounds, while the other had five, according to the investigation.
According to investigators, the former brigade commander decided to take revenge because one of the brothers did not want to apologize to his wife, who also lived in the same settlement. Investigators say a verbal conflict arose after the brothers played loud music and rode motorcycles. When people objected, the brothers allegedly responded with obscenities. Later, when Luchanov demanded an apology to his wife, the men rudely refused.
hromadske previously traveled to Kalynivka, where the tragedy occurred, and relatives and friends of the Moseychuks described the conflict between the Luchanov family and their neighbors and how it began.
