Ukraine destroys Russian Black Sea Fleet minesweeper Kovrovets

The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed the sea minesweeper of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, project 266-M Kovrovets, reported the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
It is not clear how the ship was destroyed.
This ship was intended, in particular, for trawling ships, reconnaissance, laying fairways in minefields, etc.
Kovrovets joined the fleet in 1974. It performed the task of anti-mine protection of Soviet ships in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war. In 2016, the minesweeper was involved during Russia's intervention in Syria.
Overnight on May 18, explosions rang out in the occupied city of Sevastopol. The pro-Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind wrote that there were three hits to one site – to one of the ships near the Inzhenernaya Bay area of Sevastopol. A column of black smoke was reported.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia stated that Ukraine allegedly hit Crimea with American ATACMS missiles and attack drones. Air defense forces of the Russian Federation allegedly shot down nine such missiles and one drone over the occupied peninsula.
