Beheading of a Ukrainian defender and an attempted assassination of a Kazakh oppositionist: June 18 highlights

Occupiers behead a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman in Donetsk region
The Ukrainian military received information that the military of a Russian unit in the Volnovakha district of the Donetsk region ordered their subordinates not to capture Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen and behead them.
While conducting aerial reconnaissance, Ukrainian soldiers discovered a damaged armored vehicle of the Defense Forces. On its hood was the severed head of a Ukrainian soldier.
Law enforcement has already launched a pre-trial investigation.

SBU attacks two oil depots in Russia
Two oil depots, Azovskaya and Azovnefteprodukt, which have a total of 22 fuel tanks, were attacked by SBU drones.
Local residents heard a series of explosions. It was especially loud near the railway station and the port, where oil depots and fuel terminals are located. After the attack, powerful fires broke out at the facilities, the source stated.
Attempt on a Kazakh oppositionist
In Kyiv, an unknown person approached a car parked on the street with a husband and wife, shot the man and then fled. The woman was not injured.
The victim was Kazakh opposition journalist Aidos Sadykov, who is known for his criticism of the Kazakh authorities. Law enforcement officers launched a pre-trial investigation into the attempted murder of Sadykov. The journalist is currently in hospital in serious condition.

Kyiv says goodbye to one of the “Ghosts of Kyiv”
On June 18, the capital said goodbye to Valentyn Korenchuk, a pilot with the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, call sign Bdzholiar, who was one of the first to defend Kyiv in air battles. He was killed in late April while performing a combat mission.
“He is an example for everyone who is at the controls of an airplane today. Despite the challenges of today, Valentyn had enough time to communicate, to hear, and to inspire every pilot who was under his command. He was a heroic figure and will remain so in our memory,” recalls Liubov Kynal, an officer of the Center Air Command.
Prosecutor General summoned to Verkhovna Rada over property of his deputy
Parliamentarians summoned Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin to the Verkhovna Rada to report on the property of his deputy, Dmytro Verbytskyi.
Earlier, Schemes (a project of Radio Liberty) found out that the official lives in the capital's elite cottage town of Konyk. His nephew bought this house for more than UAH 2 million, which is 6 times lower than market prices. One of the neighboring estates is also owned by Khrystyna Ilnytska, Verbytskyi's girlfriend.
Meanwhile, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau has launched a criminal investigation into Verbytskyi's possible illicit enrichment.

Mustafa Nayyem dismissed as head of the State Agency for Reconstruction
The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed Mustafa Nayyem from his post as head of the State Agency for the Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine. The government also dismissed two of his deputies.

Verkhovna Rada authorizes local governments to finance the army
The Verkhovna Rada has voted in favor of draft law No. 9559-d, which will expand the powers of local governments to support Ukraine's security and defense sector.
This draft law allows local councils to finance units of the Defense Forces, including the purchase of equipment and machinery. At the same time, the law does not allow the purchase of weapons.
